Singletons
I don't have a lot girlfriends because I tend to get along better with men. One of my few female friends is an adorable little blonde Mena Suvari lookalike, I'll call her K. She is bubbly, giggly and loves wearing fluffy pink sweaters and kitten heels. Physically, we are almost complete opposites (I am something of a dark, brooding Amazon compared to her) and we don't have many common interests. In fact, people seem rather mystified at how well we get along, particularly in light of my somewhat misanthropic tendencies.
And yet I feel something that could be described as "platonic infatuation" for her. She is a genuinely good person, not to mention so staggeringly beautiful that I could admire her for hours. I am so very rarely captivated by people.
This afternoon, K sent me an email with some rather shocking news: her 4-year, partly long-distance relationship ended last week. She wanted to know if we could hang out and be "sexy, single city girls" together (even though I've known her ex much longer and met K through him in the first place).
Well of course we bloody can, I'm not losing such a wonderful little creature just because her relationship with my friend ended.
Ah, I am gushing now.

Ah, your very own kitten.
Now I'm imagining that previous discussion of a party with all our favorite crusty curmudgeons plus perky blonde in attendance.

E has a soft spot for blondes!
that's okay, E. i have a soft spot for good gin.
(i can only imagine the fun an amazon and a blonde pixie could have out on the town together. the blonde distracts the guy while the amazon steals his wallet. or vice versa.)

Man, in a way I'm sorry to hear about B and K, but in a way distance is hard to surmount.
Though, I'm now picturing a sort of "Gabrielle" dynamic happening... um, and will deny ever having said that.

Hmm. Dr D may have something there.
Kitten, eh? Maybe you should just put her visage up in the anti-spam thingie.

I have to be careful, she may yet turn me into a fluffy pink girly girl and ruin my image around here.

E: as long as your feather boa has a snake at the core (in reference to your user icon), all is well in the world.
perhaps you and your blonde friend can help us launch the "Aqoul Gone Wild" site.

dear e,
the blonde angel & the dark devil ... do you also minify (the opposite of magnify) & stand on people's shoulders to give moral/amoral advice?

Our date was fab.
And yes, the devil/angel thing seems to fit (but I generally don't care enough to give advice).
Better than the "Gabrielle" dynamic, ahem.
