Always Darkest Before Dawn

Yes, I am still alive with only about a week of hell to go (followed by a night of utter debauchery to celebrate my birthday).

Just to give you a sense of how far I've fallen behind with respect to recent events in the Ether, here is a screenshot of my RSS reader:

Ah, I miss Lounsbury.

No, it amuses me more if The Lounsbury (v 1.0) and Eerie (v. 2.0) are DARPA-funded artificial intelligence projects that were released to the internet as an experiment.

(certainly I could see the USG pouring billions of dollars into AI projects that just end up fucking around with blogs and/or insulting humans online instead of disabling nuclear reactors and the like)

So in reality, both the Eerie and Lounsbury infrastructures are at max load right now, with communication limited to keepalive signals.

should i even ask what nefarious activities the Eerie and Lounsbury mainframes are using their computing cycles for? let me guess... HoganBot (v 3.0)

Well, the recent events have lightened me load a bit.

I'm impressed by your even attempting to maintain the pretense that you actually keep up with roughly 240 blogs. Frankly, I read about a dozen daily and check another 20 or so regularly but less often.

Well, the nice thing about RSS readers is that I don't have to visit any sites "personally", as it were. The agent fetches all the entries/articles, sorts them into a bunch of pre-defined categories and then I skim them and flag the important-looking ones for later reading.

Aqoul is really the only site I check directly. Everything else is via RSS.

One can consume an insane amount of information by having RSS agents do most of the gruntwork.

Interesting, Miss eerie.

I set up a blogbridge uber-aggregator prior to the beta version coming out - not sure what iteration exists now - and never really got into using the thing. Perhaps I should try it again.

Try Google Reader. Still beta, but very versatile.

He bloody well needs a new site that is marginally less atrocious than the current one.

"He bloody well needs a new site that is marginally less atrocious than the current one."

Indeed, I fear that to be the case. However, the above was not a typo. Blogbridge is something else than the aesthetically unlovely Blogger.

It does look promising.
