More Irregular Updates

Sometimes I long for those days when my job was not challenging enough intellectually, leaving me with tons of spare time for mad side projects like Aqoul.

Now, just bloody reading the documentation for this new blog software makes my eyes glaze over. It's like I've run out of processing power. In any case, I am slowly migrating everything over, including the current design. I think it makes more sense to change the look once I've gotten all the tech bits working. Doing it all at the same time is insane.

In other news, I've noticed something curious lately: men I dated casually last year (and then dropped for whatever reason) are suddenly calling to ask me out again. Five of them in the last 2 months, completely out of the blue. The most recent one was that Banker from early 2007 (there were two more bankers after him, but then I banned the entire finance industry). So far I've been ignoring them all, but Banker has a certain insolence that I admire. So many men are cowards these days.

I'm leaving for Italy shortly. Spur of the moment vacation starting in Rome and ending in Venice (with Florence, Siena, Cinque Terre, Como and Pisa in between). Will be back in mid-September.

I can't honestly remember the last time I took a vacation.

I sympathize with the Cowards thing. Have watched some Mad Men and it implies that insolence used to be de rigeur, with concordant chauvinism in full effect. Where, I wonder, is that thin line between sensitivity and and crippling insecurity?

As the songmaster put it: ain't no cure for the summertime blues.

SImple, Ilan, if you are handsome, it's sensitive stylish insolence; if ugly or plain, it's rude insensitivity.

Banning an entire industry seems kind of harsh (though if you're going to pick one, finance is probably a good one to pick). Though at one point, a friend decalred a moratorium on my behalf against dating IT guys named Dave. (He tried to extend it to the entire IT sector, but I protested. I like geeks.)

And hey, we need details! Those of us who have spent the past year nesting and hanging out with our friends who are either a) married or b) perpetually single need to live vicariously through someone.

I will provide sordid details as they arise. However, much of my life at the moment is consumed by work. Fascinating, challenging work - but very taxing on the brain.

A brain tax......hmmmmmm. Let's look into that. Thanks for the suggestion!

You would not, pray, have any guidance on how to properly set up this offline posting tool: Qumana, which is said to work with our system, eh?

I'd like to know what it is as well. When you ask men out, how do you go about it? I'm sure giving us some anonymity-preserving examples of the times you asked men out could help us crippled cowards.
